The Tournament Committee’s interpretation of these rules shall be FINAL.

The Tournament Committee reserves the right to decide on all matters about this tournament.

2.TEAM CHECK-IN

The EXP Showcase will have Online Team Onboarding only.

3.ROSTER SIZES

U13-U18 Teams are limited to 18 players on their roster. Players can only play for 1 team throughout the tournament.

5.GAME DURATION

U13-U14 Teams

70 minutes (2 x 35 minutes) & Halftime 5 minutes

U15-U18 Teams

80 minutes (2 x 40 minutes) & Halftime 5 minutes

All games have a running clock. Extended time due to injuries or other stoppages will not occur unless decided by the Tournament Director.

6.SUBSTITUTIONS

Substitutions shall be unlimited. All substitutes shall inform the assistant referee on their side of the field that they wish to enter the game prior to the time they are entitled to enter the game as a substitute.

The assistant referee will signal the referee that substitutes wish to enter the game at the first opportunity that the substitute is allowed to enter the game. The substitutes must wait until the referee signals that it is okay for them to enter the field.

7.FIELD AND GAME EQUIPMENT

No player be allowed to wear ANY jewelry while participating. The only exception that may be allowed is a medical alert bracelet or necklace when taped to the body. The referee shall decide as to the safety of the player and the referee’s decision is final. (The taping of any earring shall not be permitted under any circumstances.) If the referee notices a player wearing jewelry while the match is underway at the next stoppage of play, the referee will instruct the player to remove the item. If the referee deems the jewelry to be dangerous to any player, the referee must stop the match to correct the situation.

Orthopedic casts are not permitted. However, soft braces can be worn with written approval from a doctor, and judgment as to safety is at the discretion of the referee.

Players are required to wear shin guards by FIFA Laws of the Game.

Players must wear numbers on the back of their uniforms and these numbers shall coincide with those listed on the team’s roster. Where uniform colors are similar, the designated home team will change colors. The home team is listed first on the schedule.

Both teams will take the same side of the field. All other supporters will take the opposite side. Only three (3) carded team officials are permitted on the sidelines with their players.

No one is permitted behind either goal/end line. Spectators must remain behind the spectator line and coaches must remain in the coaches’ area.

Each team shall be near their assigned playing field 30 minutes before the scheduled kick-off time.

The tournament organizers will provide game balls for each match.

8.FORFEITS

Teams not at the field ready to play with a minimum of 7 eligible players at the scheduled game time will forfeit the match at the discretion of the Tournament Director.

Forfeited scores will be counted 3 – 0. Teams forfeiting games will not be able to advance to the playoff rounds.

9.ABANDONED GAME

If a game is abandoned, meaning the referees have to cancel the game in progress due to actions or behavior of players, coaches, or spectators, the score will be recorded as follows:

  • If either team is at fault for the abandonment of the game, that team at fault shall forfeit the match and the score will be recorded as a 3-0 win for the opposing team.
  • If both teams are at fault the score will remain as is at the time of abandonment.
10.INCLEMENT WEATHER

Regardless of weather conditions, coaches and their teams must appear at their respective field site, ready to play as scheduled. Failure to appear will result in forfeiture of the match. Only the Tournament Director(s) may cancel or postpone a match. Referees may suspend a match only in case of severe weather, in his/her discretion. The Tournament Director reserves the right to make the following changes in the event of inclement weather:

  • Relocate and/or reschedule a match.
  • Change a division structure.
  • Reduce scheduled duration of a match.
  • Cancel a match.

Games that have been started and subsequently suspended due to inclement weather or other external conditions will be deemed complete if one-half of the play has been completed or the first half cannot be completed before the start time of the next scheduled game on that field.

For any such game that is not completed, the score will be the final score at the time of the suspect. Any game that is not started and is canceled (as opposed to postponed) due to weather or other external conditions, will be recorded as a 0-0 tie. Canceled games will not be rescheduled.

11.RULES FOR DETERMINING TEAM RANKINGS AFTER THE GROUP PHASE

Points will be awarded as follows:

  • Win: Three (3) points
  • Draw: One (1) point
  • Loss: Zero (0) points
  • Forfeit: Minus one (-1) point and three (3) goals awarded to the winning team.

The ranking of teams within the same group will be determined as follows:

1. The highest total number of points.

In case of a tie, the following order will prevail:

2. The highest number of points obtained in the group stage matches played between the concerned teams;

3. Superior goal difference in the group stage matches played between the concerned teams;

4. A higher number of goals scored in the group stage matches played between the concerned teams;

5. Superior goal difference in all group stage matches;

6. The highest number of goals scored in all group stage matches;

7. The highest number of wins in all group stage matches;

8. Lower total disciplinary points based solely on yellow and red cards received by players and team officials in all group stage matches (red card = 3 points, yellow card = 1 point, expulsion for two yellow cards in a match = 3 points);

12.RESOLVING TIES IN SEMI-FINALS AND FINAL MATCH

If the semi-final or finals match are tied at the end of regulation time, the game will be decided by the FIFA Kicks from the Penalty Spot Procedure as outlined in the Laws of the Game. Teams may only use the players remaining on the field at the end of regulation time.

13.PROTESTS

There will be no protests. All officiating decisions are final.

14.SIDELINE BEHAVIOR

Both teams will sit on the same side of the field. Only coaches and athletic trainers may stay on the player’s sideline.

Spectators are only allowed on the opposite side of the field from the coaches and players and are limited to being in the designated area from penalty box to penalty box.

No spectators are allowed behind the goal areas.

Harassment of the officials from coaches, spectators or players will not be tolerated.

15. SEND-OFFS

U13-U14 Teams

If a player receives a red card or two yellow cards during a match, that player will sit out the rest of that match and also their next match.

Players serving Red card suspensions are allowed to sit on the bench during their team’s next game but are not allowed to be in uniform.

U15-U18 Teams

If a player is ejected from a match (red card by the referee) that player must sit out the remainder of that match.

In addition, the player must sit-out his/her team’s next tournament match.

  • However, as this is a showcase event, appeals for sitting out the next match are allowed at the discretion of the Tournament Director in coordination with the tournament’s Referee Coordinator.
  • Ejections for violent behavior, fighting, referee abuse are in no way appealable. Only the Tournament Director can make these decisions
  • As a college showcase event, players ejected can be substituted, thus allowing teams to play at full strength.

Two yellow cards constitute a red card and ejection

  • However, offending player can also be substituted.

Coaches (Any Age Group)

  • A coach or other authorized bench personnel sent off during a match must leave the field immediately upon being sent off.
  • They must remain away from the field during the team’s next match.
16. NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES

NO alcoholic beverages are allowed in the park or the parking lot of any of the game sites. Your team will be subject to forfeiting 1 game. Smoking or use of tobacco products on or near playing fields is prohibited at all times.

17. NO DOGS

NO dogs are allowed at any of parks or field complexes used for the EXP Showcase. Only service animals are allowed at the facility.

18. NO DRONES

Drones and Aerial video and photography are NOT permitted at any time.

19. VIDEO CAMERA EQUIPMENT

The use of video camera equipment has to be approved by the Tournament Director will be permitted as long as all equipment is secure and all operators do not interfere with the game.

20.TOURNAMENT CANCELLATION

The Tournament Director reserve the right to decide all matters pertaining to the tournament – and may, in their sole discretion, delay, postpone, or cancel the tournament, or otherwise alter the tournament structure (such as the duration of and/or number of games for teams), The decision of the Tournament Director on these matters shall be final, and shall not entitle any team to a refund or other return of entry fees paid, except as provided below (subject to any exception set out below, entry fees are non-refundable).

If the tournament is canceled for any reason before any tournament matches are played, teams will receive a refund or credit (against entry fees for the next EXP Showcase) in an amount to be determined in the sole discretion of the Tournament Committee after taking into consideration the non-recoverable costs, expenses, and resources incurred/expended by the organization for the tournament.The determination of the amount of the credit/refund, and issuance of any credit/refund, may take up to 180 days after cancellation.

Outside of complete tournament cancellation, other circumstances may arise in which the Tournament Committee, based on the totality of circumstances, decide to provide a refund of some or all of team entry fees (or for particular teams based on impacts from weather and other circumstances). Any such decision to alter the no-refund policy is in the sole and absolute discretion of the Tournament Committee, and any such decision shall not constitute a binding commitment with respect to future similar circumstances or other teams.

The EXP Showcase, Tournament Director, and Soccer Laval will not be responsible for any costs or expenses incurred by tournament participants (including, without limitation, for travel, lodging, or meals) if the tournament is delayed, postponed, canceled, or otherwise altered for any reason.

21.TEAM WITHDRAWAL

All applications must be complete and submitted by March 31, 2024 to guarantee consideration. Any teams registering after the deadline will be placed on an active waiting list depending on availability based on the size of the divisions and flights. Upon acceptance, the fee is non-refundable. Therefore, if your team is accepted and later withdraws, the entry fee is non-refundable.
